According to this article, shopping malls worldwide are experiencing a drop in consumer confidence, which has sunk to a record low, ending years of growth for shopping centres.

The situation is such that they have now decided to stop concentrating on bringing in new customers, and rather focus on keeping current customers, by essentially focusing on and upgrading the customer experience on-site. One of the actions they say they will take will also include Bluetooth marketing for a more direct approach to the consumers, via their mobile phones.
