Location-Based Services on the Rise

I just came across this great synopsis of location-based services, over at the Next Great Thing blog. They are separated into 4 categories:

• Navigation,
• Friend-finding,
• Sharing,
  
• Dating.

It's a great reference and starting point, though not complete. For example, I recently posted about a mobile social networking app, called aka-aki, which is not on the list (perhaps because there is no social networking list as such, though it could easily be classified as both dating and friend-finding).

Nonetheless, some pretty good apps on that list, so head on over and have a look if you're interested.
